Art for all, art for everybody
For the 5th edition of Monaco Sculpture, the Artcurial auction house, in partnership with the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, will be presenting a selection of iconic sculptures from the 20th and 21st centuries from early April to early September 2024.
Among the works exhibited in Monaco are monumental sculptures that we have produced in small format for our “ART FOR ALL” collection.
In these gardens, you can also admire Francesco Marino di Teana‘s Aube, described by Tomás Alva Negri as “the most perfect and harmonious form created by Marino di Teana”. Interested in the circle since the 1960s, the sculptor began by breaking it down, before creating the sculpture Aube in 1977, the most telling example of his tri-unitary theory “1 + 1 = 3”.
L’enfant abrité by Parvine Curie can also be seen at the Jardins de la Petite Afrique in Monaco. “L’habitacle-mère” reveals a stripped-down form, embodying a refuge as much as the comforting presence of a united family. This 1.70-meter work is the artist’s first of this size.
Monaco Sculptures 2024 also features Yazid Oulab‘s Âlif-clou in the Jardin Saint-James. A link between gesture and spirit, but also between the two cultures that inspire the artist – Western and Arab – nails best symbolize Yazid Oulab’s work. These nails were first exhibited at the FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur in 2013.
The auction will take place on July 10, 2024 at the Hotel Hermitage, Monte-Carlo.

It is in this beautiful setting of the Salle des Gardes of the Hôtel Sully (Paris) that the sculptor Parvine Curie received from the hands of Philippe Bélaval, President of the Center des monuments nationaux, the insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters this Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 7 p.m.
In a touching speech taking up the career of the artist, the High Official mentioned, among other things, her first works created as an autodidact in the heart of Catalonia; her public commissions, including the edition of twenty-five small pyramids offered by President Mitterrand to heads of state at the Franco-African summit in La Baule in 1990, but also the prestigious exhibitions and her retrospectives presented in the 2000s.
He then made a point of emphasizing the great generosity of the artist and her many donations of works, in particular to the Museum of Meudon and more recently to the Abbey of Beaulieu-en-Rouergue in the Tarn-et-Garonne where a Monumental sculpture of the artist of 2.70 meters in height will be inaugurated next June, before giving her this medal symbolizing her remarkable contribution to the French cultural field.

It is this desire to smile as much as a bittersweet feeling that Antonio Seguí leaves today in our hearts. When I heard the news of his death, it was first of all the sadness that I felt, to know that I will no longer see this great man and formidable artist whose works have always accompanied my career as a gallery owner. I also think back to the happiness I had to see him just a few weeks ago before he left for Argentina with the same joy of living that has characterized him for more than thirty years that we have been working together. Despite a certain nostalgia, it is with all the more pride that I realize how lucky I was to have been able to share with him the launch of the new edition of HOMME PRESSÉ (the busy man) from the collection Art For All. With great tenderness, I remember the future collaborative projects that we discussed together that day. I know he would have liked us to remember this image of a sparkling and dynamic man, an eternal artist with a great thirst for creation.
Born in Argentina in Villa Allende, in the province of Córdoba, in 1934, Antonio Seguí was thus a deeply jovial man, endowed with great culture and a passion for art in all its forms, from pre-Columbian art to contemporary art. He was also a travel enthusiast. He was only 17 when he first traveled to Europe to attend training at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Madrid) and at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris as a free auditor.
After returning to Latin America, a few years in Argentina and then in Mexico, he finally settled in France in 1963 with his first wife, the Argentinian dancer Graciela Martínez, who had obtained a scholarship from the French government. Segui then enjoyed great success at the III Paris Biennale and became the most Parisian of Argentines. His studio in Arcueil, where he organized evenings that brought together the Argentine artistic community present in France, then became the place of obligatory passage for many Argentine painters and artists passing through Paris, but also Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Neruda, Alejo Carpentier, Copi or Mercedes Sosa.
His work, like his life, has always been marked by this great freedom “without which (he) can neither paint nor live”. In his works populated by figures strolling in the heart of the cities, he thus treated with humor and irony the spectacle of urban life, characterized in the form of the memory of the cities of his native country. On multiple supports, from painting to photography, from lithography to monumental sculpture, he thus gave life to a whole gallery of characters in motion, absorbed by the frantic rhythm of cities, and whose deliberately simplified features seemed to give them a freedom as naive as it is utopian.

His modern, hurried and urban man, in bright colors as if to better escape from the daily grayness, resonates with us, in the four corners of the planet. If today the departure of its creator leaves us all a little orphaned, I am convinced that the works and talent of Antonio Seguí will continue to make us dream and shine on the international artistic scene for a very long time.
After a beautiful launch a year ago, the Art for All collection is now expanding with new pieces in order to continue its vocation to democratize art, offering more diversity while retaining the accessibility.
After being enriched throughout the year with the introduction of editions such as La Girouette Hiver by Philippe Hiquily, Amour Fou by Claude Gilli, or inflatable furniture by Bernard Quentin, there are now three unpublished editions, in collaboration with three new artists (Yazid Oulab, Antonio Segui and Richard Texier), who join the collection.
These works will be presented from December 2, 2021 to January 29, 2022 during a group exhibition to promote the works of all the artists who have collaborated on this beautiful project. You will find sculptures, but also monumental works, design and art furniture or paintings that will offer us a more in-depth look at their respective works.
So come and discover in the two spaces of the LOFT Gallery, each work of this collection thought, chosen and developed with the artist is offered in a limited series, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity sold between 200 and 600 euros, with a view to offering more universal access to artworks. Real works in small formats but whose creativity, authenticity, quality and commitment will make you smile or dream.

In the midst of the buzz of news that we hear from the media and social networks, a star has yet died out in the utmost silence. A formidable star, who still shone with the energy of a child’s heart and the passion of a young man … at over 96 years old.
Bernard Quentin was one of the last living contemporary French artists to shake up the 20th century and the art of the 1950s and 1970s. Friend of Picasso, Boris Vian, Jean-Paul Sartre, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Anne-Marie Cazalis and Juliette Gréco whose life he shared at the end of the 1940s, he participated in numerous exhibitions at the Galerie Maeght alongside Joan Miró , Alberto Giacometti, Calder and Tàpies and works with Le Corbusier then Restany before traveling the world in search of the different forms of language that have forged the history of our world. He thus became a real driving force behind Semiotic art and, through his research, enriched various areas of automatic writing to the point that Salvador Dalí considered him a true “pioneer of cybernetic art and electronic writing”.
Cette volonté de parvenir à établir une forme d’« universalisme » du langage par le biais de l’art prouve combien Bernard Quentin aimait la vie et les hommes, et qu’il a été tout au long de sa vie « un phare vers l’universalité post-moderne de demain » (Pierre Restany). Sa présence et son sourire nous manquerons, mais son œuvre et son parcours parlent d’eux-mêmes. Ils ont su fasciner depuis des décennies de grands collectionneurs ou artistes, dont l’acteur Gérard Depardieu, tombé amoureux de son travail sur le tournage du film Olé réalisé par la femme de l’artiste, la scénariste et réalisatrice Florence Quentin, qui commanditait depuis lors de nombreuses pièces à l’artiste pour sa résidence.
Nous tenions également à saluer le fils de l’artiste, Alexis Quentin, pour le travail formidable qu’il fournit au quotidien afin de faire vivre l’œuvre de cet artiste exceptionnel, grande figure de l’art du XXe siècle, dont la portée considérable de l’œuvre reste encore à découvrir.
